The generation gap in Indian Diaspora

I think myself in between two rather different generation of imigrant Indians. People who have been here for sometime before I came here, still tells me about the greatness of US systems; and of course, the problems and corruptions at home. They have always reflected a sense of being rescued. Some kind of colonial hangover still haunts them. For them the country still lives in 1970s. On the other side, people who came more recently, after me, have seen the socio-economic rise of India. Most of all, they reflect pride, a generation of accomplished people. They don't discuss as much of proverty, coruptions and problems back home. They think of America more as an oportunity where smarter immigrants can contribute and enrich themselves, rather than being saved.
